CONSULTATION
It's important to use tools we already have access to and to minimize those tools to make it sustainable.
In my experience, when a teacher or parent feels that they are in control, that's when they are most successful. Consultation should be provided in a way that listens openly, identifies realistic goals and helps the individual to find confidence so that positive behavior change is possible.
Consultation for families, individual teachers and classrooms is based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis with an emphasis on what is manageable and effective in facilitating change. Consultation can be provided in many different forms, depending on individual need.
